Part one

Waiver forms

Four forms that cover the situations that actually create disputes: general liability, a matted coat, a senior dog with health risks, and an emergency when the owner cannot be reached.

Grooming Liability Waiver

Your baseline release: inherent risk, pre-existing conditions, handling, right to refuse service, and emergency vet authorization.

PLEASE READ THIS DOCUMENT CAREFULLY. By signing below, you are giving up certain legal rights.

1. General Liability Release

Client acknowledges that pet grooming involves inherent risks and that no grooming environment can be completely free from hazard. Client agrees that the Groomer shall not be held liable for injury, illness, accident, escape, death, or property damage that may occur before, during, or after a grooming appointment, unless caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the Groomer.

2. Pre-Existing Conditions

Client acknowledges that grooming may expose pre-existing health conditions that were not previously apparent. The Groomer will exercise professional care, but shall not be liable for the aggravation of pre-existing physical conditions including but not limited to: skin conditions, ear infections, joint pain, dental disease, heart conditions, respiratory disorders, parasitic infestations, or tumors discovered during grooming.

3. Stress & Handling Risks

Client acknowledges that grooming can be a stressful experience for some pets. In rare circumstances, extreme stress during grooming can lead to medical complications including but not limited to: stroke, heart failure, seizures, or shock. Client accepts full responsibility for any costs associated with veterinary care required due to stress-related incidents during grooming, absent gross negligence by the Groomer.

4. Equipment & Coat Condition

Client acknowledges that grooming tools including clippers, scissors, blades, dryers, and bathing equipment may cause skin irritation in sensitive or previously shaved dogs. The Groomer will use professional judgment in tool selection and technique. Client releases Groomer from liability for minor nicks, clipper irritation, or coat-related issues that may arise during grooming of a pet with a compromised, matted, or unusually sensitive coat.

5. Right to Refuse Service

The Groomer reserves the right to stop a grooming session at any time if the pet shows signs of extreme distress, becomes a danger to itself or grooming staff, or if the Groomer determines that continuing would be unsafe. Client will be charged for services rendered to that point. The safety and welfare of all animals in our care is always the priority.

6. Proof of Vaccination Required

Client agrees that all pets brought in for grooming must be current on core vaccinations as required by our vaccine compliance policy. Client accepts liability for any costs associated with vaccination-related illness exposure to other animals or staff.

7. Authorization to Seek Veterinary Care

In the event that the Groomer is unable to reach the Client or the designated emergency contact, Client hereby authorizes the Groomer to seek emergency veterinary care for the pet as deemed necessary. Client agrees to assume full financial responsibility for all veterinary costs incurred under these circumstances.

8. Photography Release

9. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall the Groomer’s maximum liability to Client exceed the total amount paid for the specific grooming service in which the injury or damage occurred. Client expressly waives any right to consequential, incidental, or punitive damages.

10. Governing Law

I have read, understand, and voluntarily agree to the terms of this Grooming Liability Waiver. I understand I am waiving certain legal rights by signing.

Matting Acknowledgment & De-Matting Consent

Documents the coat assessment, the client's chosen approach, de-matting fees, and the risks a pelted coat hides.

Understanding Matting

Matting occurs when a dog’s coat becomes severely tangled and knotted. Severely matted coats can be painful, restrict blood flow, hide wounds or infections, and create a hospitable environment for parasites, hot spots, and skin infections. Matting is a coat and skin health issue, not merely a grooming inconvenience.

De-Matting Options

Upon assessment, if the Groomer has determined that this dog’s coat requires one of the following approaches, which approach would you prefer?

Matting Disclosure & Risk Acknowledgment

I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge the following:

De-Matting Fee

Long-Term Coat Care Agreement

I understand that to prevent future matting, I commit to:

Client Consent

I have reviewed the matting assessment, understand all risks outlined above, and authorize the Groomer to proceed with the selected option(s). I accept full financial responsibility for additional de-matting fees.

Senior & High-Risk Dog Grooming Consent

Required for dogs 8+ years (7+ for giant breeds) or any dog with a condition that raises grooming risk.

Senior Dog Grooming Disclaimer

This form is required for dogs age 8 years or older (7 years or older for giant breeds), or for any dog with a known medical condition that may elevate grooming risk. Grooming is an important part of senior pet wellness; however, the process can pose additional challenges for older dogs.

Groomer Modifications for Senior Pets

Our grooming team will make the following accommodations for senior dogs:

Client Acknowledgment

I understand that my senior or medically compromised pet faces elevated risks during grooming. I have disclosed all known health conditions above and confirm my pet’s veterinarian is aware of and does not advise against grooming at this time.

I understand that the Groomer will make every reasonable accommodation to ensure my pet’s safety and comfort, and I accept the elevated inherent risk associated with grooming a senior or medically compromised animal.

I authorize the Groomer to halt the session and contact me immediately if my pet shows any signs of distress. If I cannot be reached, I authorize the Groomer to seek emergency veterinary care and I accept full financial responsibility for those costs.

Showing 114 of 114 breeds at each breed's typical weight class. Use the calculator above to price a specific dog.

The logic

How these prices are built

Salon pricing logic

Salon rates run $0.80 to $2.00 per minute depending on skill level. Overhead is shared across chairs, so the rate per minute is lower than mobile — volume and throughput carry the business.

Mobile pricing logic

Mobile rates run $1.00 to $2.25 per minute. You are paid for exclusivity and convenience, and the vehicle, fuel, and drive time have to be covered by fewer appointments per day.

Doodle grooming

Doodle coats carry a 1.35x time multiplier, and corded coats 1.5x. That is not a surcharge — it is the honest amount of extra brushing, drying, and scissor work the coat requires.

Skill level changes the math twice

A master groomer finishes faster (0.78x time) but bills a higher rate. An apprentice takes longer (1.30x) at a lower rate. Both effects are baked into every price shown.

Know your own minutes

These rates are industry benchmarks. To find the rate your business actually needs, run your real monthly expenses and income goal through the price per minute calculator, then come back and price every breed off your own number.
